Jack’s Camp is a traditional East African 1940’s style Camp with 10 Luxury en-suite canvas tents sited on the original spot chosen by Jack Bousfield in the 1960’s. Jack’s Camp has a inviting swimming pool for those hot days where you can relax and soak in the surroundings. The camp is set on the Pans of Makgadikgadi Pans. A relic of one of the worlds largest super – lakes formed around seven million years ago. The lake dried thousands of years ago leaving the salt pans.
There are 2 seasons. The winter dry season is 16th April to 31st October and summer wet season 01 November to 15th April. The landscape changes dramatically in the wet season brining in flamingos and other migratory birds as well as the herds of Zebra and wildebeest and following them the predators.
You can also quad bike to the center of the Makgadikgadi Pans and see the remote archeological sites and the fossils of the giant zebra and hippo.
You can also have the opportunity to walk through the Kalahari with a habituated gang of Meerkats and see their way of life or learn about the Bushmen. The Camp is surrounded with History as close by is the largest Baobab tree in Africa called the Chapman’s Baobab ( also known as Seven Sisters ) and was the campsite of early explorers like Selous and Livingstone when they pioneered the area.
Children of all ages are welcome.
